In late 2021, as part of a proposed residential redevelopment in Edgware, Greater London, Ayen Consulting provided an accepted car park layout to assist with the client’s site master plan for 8 no self-contained flats.
Due to current land constraints, the client was challenged in fulfilling the number of resident parking spaces required by the Local Highway Authority.
We provided a car park design supported by swept path analysis and was able to assist our client further with single-carriage way access to an underground car park by implementing shuttle working traffic signals using microwave vehicle detectors (MVD) to recognise cars waiting to access the sub-terrain car park.
Vehicle access to the site was restricted by a signal-controlled junction with a major arterial road fronting the site.
Ayen Consulting designed the site access with a left-out arrangement with southbound traffic required to perform a U-turn manoeuvre at the major junction successfully demonstrated by swept path analysis.
