In 2011, we provided a well-received presentation on ‘Innovative Transport Engineering Designs’ to VicRoads (the Victorian highways authority) and the Victorian Department of Transport (State Government). This led to commissioning our services to provide a freeway interchange design to VicRoads senior management for a new freeway interchange using a cut-through roundabout (Hamburg-about) design to minimise traffic delays during construction. The project, engineered in CAD and the design strengthened by a VISSIM modelling, was commended by the highways authority for its road safety merits, high benefit-cost ratio and provisions for pedestrian/cycle movements.
