Ayen Consulting was engaged by Alice Springs Town Council to undertake a Road Safety Study along a 2.3 km section of Gap Road, a key urban corridor with a history of serious and fatal crashes, including pedestrian incidents.
The study involved a detailed review of five years of crash data, traffic conditions, speed environment, pedestrian activity, and nighttime visibility. While no single crash cluster was identified, the assessment revealed systemic safety risks, including excessive speeds, poor visibility in dark conditions, pedestrian exposure, and intersection layout confusion.
